In a significant infrastructure development for northwestern Greece, JIER has successfully designed and supplied a batch of high-performance Arch Rubber Fender Systems for Igoumenitsa Port. This project marks another milestone in JIER Marine's commitment to providing superior marine safety berthing & mooring solutions for strategic international ports.
Igoumenitsa, historically known as Titani, serves as a vital maritime gateway connecting Greece with Italy and the wider Adriatic region. As the capital of the Thesprotia regional unit and the western terminus of the 670-kilometer Egnatia Highway, the port plays a crucial role in the logistics network of northern Greece. To maintain operational efficiency and ensure the safety of berthing vessels in this busy hub, robust and durable fendering solutions were required.
JIER Marine was selected to provide a customized solution tailored to the port's specific operational demands. The project involved the supply of 30 units of Arch Fenders, specifically engineered to offer optimal energy absorption and reaction force. Renowned for its exceptionally low coefficient of friction and high abrasion resistance, this material significantly reduces wear and tear during vessel contact, thereby protecting both the ship's hull and the fender system itself.
Upon arrival, the systems were installed along the Igoumenitsa coastline, reinforcing the port's defenses against the rigors of marine operations. This project underscores JIER Marine's capability to design and manufacture reliable, high-quality marine fender systems that meet the rigorous standards of European port authorities, ensuring long-term safety and durability for one of Greece's most important transport hubs.
